Workers at the Asaluyeh Refinery No. 10 in the South Pars Complex [in southern Iran] went on strike on Wednesday and Thursday [February 4-5, 2026] in protest against “manipulation of overtime and omitting a part of the wages related to overtime hours and the condition of the workers’ dormitories.”
The striking workers demanded “the full reinstatement of the omitted overtime, transparency in calculating wages, and an immediate improvement in the condition of the workers’ dormitories,” and announced that they would protest in various ways if their demands were ignored.
According to the workers, some of the registered overtime has been disregarded, which has been accompanied by widespread protests by the workforce. The workers point out that overtime forms an important part of their monthly income and that any change or omission of it will put additional financial pressure on their families.
In addition, the dormitories are overcrowded and the number of people living in the rooms has increased; in such a way that the workers are not provided with the opportunity for proper and minimal rest.
