Picket BICC Annual Dinner and Reception

The British Iranian Chamber of Commerce (BICC) has stepped up its activities following the EU membership referendum in June. The Tory government’s push for closer economic relations beyond the EU has meant that dictatorships like the Iranian regime have now become priority countries for trade and investment by British capitalists.

Echoing the pro-Pinochet Norman Lamont, Liam Fox, the International Trade Secretary, has said that “This represents a once in a generation investment opportunity, as Iran is the biggest market to enter the global economy since the fall of the Soviet Union.” (‘New Prospects for British-Iranian Trade and Investment’ conference in London, November 2nd).

The BICC is holding its Annual Dinner and Reception in the Members’ Dining Room of the House of Commons on Friday November 11th 2016. We will be gathering in Parliament Square at 6:30pm to protest the way the new trade relations mean that luxury marques like Lotus open a showroom in Tehran, selling hand-built cars to the super-rich, while gold miners can still be flogged for demanding their basic rights.

Come and show your solidarity with Iran’s working class.

Friday November 11th, 6:30-7:30pm, Parliament Square.
