Iran’s teachers begin second two-day nationwide sit-in

Iran’s teachers have begun their second two-day nationwide sit-in strike. The strike began on the morning of Tuesday November 13th and will continue on Wednesday.

The strike, called by the Co-ordination Council of Teachers’ Trade Organisations of Iran, has already affected schools in Ahvaz, Alborz, Kermanshah, Kurdistan Province (inc. Saghez, Marivan, Baneh, Sanandaj, Divandarreh), Khomeini Shahr, Mazandaran Province, Ardabil, Esfahan, Yazd, Shiraz, Hamadan, Shahr-e Kord and elsewhere.

On October 14-15th the teachers had their first two-day nationwide sit-in. The teachers’ main slogan is: Health, livelihood and housing are our inalienable rights. The teachers have many grievances, including a number that criticise the regime’s education and social policies.
