Haft Tappeh strike: 24th day – rally in Shush

On July 8th 2020, the 24th day of the latest Haft Tappeh strike, once again hundreds of workers and their families demonstrated in Shush.

So far no one from the authorities – neither at province nor at national level – has bothered to meet the striking workers to even ask about their demands. Instead there have been many plots involving agent provocateurs and spies who have tried to sow confusion and division among the workers as well as other methods to sap the collective morale and eventually break the strike.

The Iranian regime has also used the media to misrepresent the workers’ demands. For the record: the workers’ number one demand is to revoke privatisation.

The following are the workers’ main demands, as published on the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company workers’ independent channel on Telegram.

Immediate payment of unpaid wages and renewal of insurance booklets.
Immediate reinstatement of all sacked workmates.
Immediate arrest of Asadbeigi and life sentences for Asadbeigi and Rostami.*
Divest Haft Tappeh’s fraudster employer and the private sector.
Return all embezzled wealth to the workers.
End retired managers’ employment.
