Haft Tappeh strike: 70th day!

Today, August 23rd 2020, is the 70th day of the latest Haft Tappeh strike. The following is a short statement published on the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company workers’ independent channel on Telegram.

The seventieth day of the Haft Tappeh strike today, Sunday, August 23, 2020

In the presence of a number of workers, the seventieth day of the Haft Tappeh workers’ strike was commemorated this morning at the gate of the Governor’s Office. At this gathering the workers declared that they would continue the strike and protests until divestment of the private sector.

The following are the most important demands of the striking workers:

Immediate divestment of Haft Tappeh’s fraudster employer and the private sector.
Immediate payment of unpaid wages and renewal of insurance booklets.
Immediate reinstatement of all sacked workmates.
Immediate arrest of Asadbeigi and life sentences for Asadbeigi and Rostami.*
Immediate return of all embezzled wealth to the workers.
End retired managers’ employment.
Form an independent workers’ representatives’ assembly.

* Omid Asadbeigi is the former CEO and Mehrdad Rostami the Chairman of the Board of Haft Tappeh. Both are currently on trial for fraud.
