Haft Tappeh workers: Threats of assassination and murder

The following is a statement published on the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company workers’ independent Telegram channel.

Threats of assassination and murder

The lives of Haft Tappeh labour activists and their families are in danger!

A few days ago, we spoke in a post about the threat to kill labour activists by criminals and Asadbeigi’s* thugs. We warned that the lives of labour activists and their families are in danger. We talked about the threats that the provincial officials were aware of, but they remained silent. Once again, we explicitly declare that the responsibility for this insecurity and stabbing against our colleagues in broad daylight lies directly with Asadbeigi and the security agencies that support him.

People of Shoush and its suburbs, workers and honourable people of Khuzestan, workers and free people all-over Iran!

You know that the Haft Tappeh workers did not bow down at the height of oppression and poverty, they did not give up, they defended their rights, they paid a heavy price and they also won some victories. The workers of Haft Tappeh appreciate your sincere support and they also see the enemies and the biased.

In this situation where a thousand and one conspiracies are being hatched against us, the threat of assassination of ourselves and our families is another reminder of the murder of labour activists in Latin America by employers’ assassination squads. This is not just a threat against us, it is a threat against workers’ protests and a threat against people like us in every corner of the country.

First of all, we hold the security and provincial officials responsible for this situation, who support Asadbeigi, and secondly, the mercenaries who see no further than the tip of their noses and do not understand that they cannot do as they please in this province and then get away. We are united and warn all mercenaries to be aware that they have entered a dangerous field. We call for support and pressure on the authorities and the instigators of this situation and call for support for workers’ legitimate demands.
