Today, July 24th 2020, is the 40th day of the latest Haft Tappeh strike. The following is a short statement published on the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company workers’ independent channel on Telegram.
The fortieth day of the Haft Tappeh strike today, Friday, July 24, 2020
The fortieth day of the Haft Tappeh workers’ strike was commemorated this morning by workers convening in front of the Governor’s Office. At this gathering the workers declared that they will continue to protest and strike until their demands – including divestment of the private sector – have been reached.
The following are the most important demands of the striking workers:
Immediate payment of unpaid wages and renewal of insurance booklets.
Immediate reinstatement of all sacked workmates.
Immediate arrest of Asadbeigi and life sentences for Asadbeigi and Rostami.*
Divest Haft Tappeh’s fraudster employer and the private sector.
Return all embezzled wealth to the workers.
End retired managers’ employment.

* Omid Asadbeigi is the former CEO and Mehrdad Rostami the Chairman of the Board of Haft Tappeh. Both are currently on trial for fraud.
