The following is a statement published on the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Union’s Telegram Channel.

Ali Nejati sentenced to five years in prison! For what crime!?

– Bread, work, freedom.
– Happiness, Welfare, Prosperity.

Ali Nejati, a member of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Union, was sentenced to five years imprisonment by Branch 28 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Courts on charges of gathering and colluding to act against national security!!? through propaganda against the regime.

The Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Union strongly condemns the verdict against Ali Nejati, and declares that issuing such anti-labour sentences cannot frighten workers in continuing their struggle against oppression and exploitation. As long as there is oppression and exploitation, the workers’ class struggle will continue.

The verdicts of the oppressors must be revoked immediately.
