On Kerman’s 3000 striking coalminers

A meeting to address the problems of the 3,000 striking workers at the Kerman coal mines was held without the presence of the protesting workers’ representatives!
Reps of Kerman’s coalminers spoke of the injustices the workers have endured and revealed the facts about their working conditions – facts that the authorities have known for years and have ignored.

Workers at Kerman’s coal mines are paid only 2.9 to 3.1 million tomans ($691-$739) to work in the deep mines.

The Kerman coalminers’ reps also spoke of job insecurity and the temporary contracts that have been set unilaterally and have to be signed each year.
