Earlier today, when Esmail Bakhshi’s family visited the Prosecutor’s Office to clarify the uncertain and painful situation of Esmail, they were treated disrespectfully by the Iranian regime’s authorities. When they respectfully persisted to find out about Esmail’s situation, the Prosecutor ordered that members of this jailed labour activist’s family be attacked and his mother arrested!
Unfortunately, as a result of this brutal assault, Esmail’s mother passed out and, as her physical condition deteriorated, she had to be taken to a medical facility immediately.
For over a month Esmail Bakhshi and Sepideh Gholian have been held in solitary confinement in order to force them to make false confessions and to incriminate themselves. Outside prison, their families have been threatened and put under pressure.
The Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign strongly condemns the brutal treatment of Esmail Bakhshi, Sepideh Gholian, Ali Nejati and all other Haft Tappeh workers, activists and their families. All Haft Tappeh workers and activists must be freed immediately and unconditionally. We call on all trade unionists, socialists and other political activists to help us in defending the rights of all workers, social rights’ activists and political prisoners in Iran.
