According to a report received by the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Union, during a family visit on February 24th Esmail Bakhshi passed out and his family feared for his life.
After the Intelligence Ministry officers revived Bakhshi they made accusations against him, instead of giving him further treatment.
Esmail Bakhshi’s life is in danger. He is in prison because he is a tireless representative of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Union. Mr Bakhshi was detained from November 18th to December 12th 2018, after playing a leading role in the Haft Tappeh strike. He was tortured by the Iranian regime’s security forces while in jail. He was re-arrested on January 20th after a large number of armed men in 15 SUV patrol cars attacked his home and detained him.
The Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign strongly condemns the continued incarceration of Esmail Bakhshi, Sepideh Gholian and Ali Nejati. We call on all trade unionists, socialists and other political activists to help us in defending the rights of all workers, social rights’ activists and political prisoners in Iran.
