Mohammad-Hossein Sepehri, a teacher jailed in Mashhad’s Vakilabad prison, has contracted Corona virus.
His brother has tweeted that Mr Sepehri showed COVID-19 symptoms on March 28th. Together with other political activists he was handed over to the Intelligence Ministry and is now in solitary confinement. He has been denied medical care even though he needs to be taken to hospital immediately.
There are many teachers and hundreds of other labour and social rights activists languishing in the Iranian regime’s prisons and now exposed to a high risk of contracting COVID-19 – under a system that is not only incapable of controlling the outbreak but is covering up its incompetence and ineptitude in dealing with the virus.
