Workers, teachers, students and pensioners arrested on May Day in Tehran

Following a call by four independent labour organisations, workers, teachers, students and pensioners demonstrated outside the Iranian regime’s ‘parliament’ on May Day. The regime’s response was to arrest a large number of demonstrators.

The four independent labour organisations were: Trade Union of the Tehran and Suburbs Vahed Bus Company, Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Union, Coordination Committee for Establishing Labour Organisations and the Retirement Alliance.

The latest report of the full list of detainees in Tehran is:

Reza Shahabi, Hossein Saeedi, Naser Moharamzadeh, Vahid Fereidouni, Farahnaz Shiri, Farhad Sheikhi, Rasoul Talebmoghadam, Asadollah Soleimani, Mohammad Ali Aslani, Kamyar Fakour, Mardas Taheri, Mohsen Soleimani Nejad, Hadi Soleimani, Mehdi Azimi, Mahan Salehi, Ghasem Khaloui, Mohammad Aslaghi , Elham Salehi, Anisha Asadollahi, Amir Mohammad Taheri, Keyvan Samimi, Davood Rafiee, Nahid Khodajoo, Nasrin Javadi, Mehdi Fakhri, Marziyeh Amiri, Samira Amiri, Khorsandi, Ali Yavari, Hossein Moradi, Ali Morikhi, Mohsen Hades, Afshin Mirzakhani Hades, Saeed Rezaei, Akbar Jamshidi, Hamid Salimi, Nima Vizheh, Hossein Vizheh.

The Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign strongly condemns these arrests. We call on all trade unionists, socialists and other political activists to help us in defending the rights of all workers, social rights’ activists and political prisoners in Iran.
