Esmail Abdi, the former General Secretary of the Tehran Teachers’ Trade Association, was temporarily released from jail on March 17th.
There are still many teachers, including Mohammad Habibi, as well as hundreds of other labour and social rights activists languishing in the Iranian regime’s prisons and now exposed to a high risk of contracting COVID-19 – under a system that is not only incapable of controlling the outbreak but is covering up its incompetence and ineptitude in dealing with the virus.
