Sepideh Gholian has once again been arrested.
On November 16th, the security forces of the Iranian regime, violently attacked the parental home of Sepideh Gholian, the labour rights activist, student and journalist. Sepideh Gholian has been a very vocal and staunch supporter of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Workers’ Union and strikes and struggles of its workers to revoke privatisation.
The Iranian regime has sentenced her to 18 years in prison but she was released on October 26th, after a bail of 500,000 tomans [$118,382] was paid.
With the current internet shutdown in Iran, it has not been possible to find any further details of the arrest.
The Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign strongly condemns the arrest and continuing detention of Sepideh Gholian and all other political prisoners in Iran and calls for their immediate and unconditional release. We call on all trade unionists, socialists and other political activists to help us in defending the rights of all workers, social rights’ activists and political prisoners in Iran.
